MK-677 (also known as Ibutamoren or Nutrobal) is a non-peptide ghrelin receptor agonist and growth hormone secretagogue. Unlike injectable GHRP peptides, MK-677 is taken orally and has a long half-life of approximately 24 hours, enabling once-daily dosing. It mimics ghrelin to stimulate pituitary GH release while also increasing IGF-1 levels, making it one of the most convenient tools for sustained GH axis support.
Multiple clinical studies have demonstrated MK-677's ability to significantly increase GH and IGF-1. A 2-year trial in elderly subjects showed increases in lean body mass, improved bone mineral density, and enhanced functional capacity. Studies at 10–25mg/day showed dose-dependent IGF-1 elevation sustained over 24+ weeks. It does not suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, making it cleaner than anabolic alternatives.
Initial effects include improved sleep depth, increased appetite (especially in the first 2–4 weeks), and mild water retention as IGF-1 rises. By weeks 8–12, lean mass gains and improved body composition become noticeable. Some users report transient increases in fasting blood glucose — periodic monitoring is advisable for long-term use.
